Robert Graham

Bronze afficionados should recognize the name of Robert Graham. The late Robert Graham's
bronzes have graced cities throughout the United States for decades. Born in Mexico
city and eventually becoming a United States citizen and a Californian, Graham was inducted
in the California Hall of Fame in 2008 shortly before his death.
The bronze doors of the Cathedral are unique; the focus on storytelling. They harken to the
pre-Christian days of all cultures and show us the progression to Christianity in its symbols.
Also unique is his rendition of Our Lady of the Angels. The modern figure is presented as a
woman "clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet" (Revelations 12:1). The halo
shaft above her head shines God's light on her as the sun travels from east to west.
Her arms are outstretched to welcome all. She is a working woman, with strong, loving arms
and hands. She is not of any one race or ethnicity. She exhibits the physical features of women
or all cultures.
The Gift shop is pleased to announce that you too can enjoy the the beauty of Graham's work in the form
book and pin.
