Max DeMoss
The son of a Greek emmigre, Max DeMoss was schooled at a young age to appreciate classical Greek and Roman art. His subject matter is diverse--from Biblical allegory to abstract to narrative. With a following throughout the United States, he is frequently commissioned for both public and private works.
DeMoss was commissioned by the Cathedral to do sculptures which are now part of the Cathedral. He was commissioned to create a tabernacle where the Holy Eucharist is preserved and also to do angel light sconces inside to illuminate the aisles of the Cathedral . Since the design of the Cathedral building is angular and linear, DeMoss wanted "to create a tabernacle that contrasts and compliments the architecture in form and style.
The Cathedral Gift Shop is pleased to announce that you too can enjoy the beauty of DeMoss' angles.
He created miniature versions of the light sconces inside the cathedral to be sold exclusively by the Cathedral. Each sculpture is unique and one of a kind and are each signed.
