About John Nava:

John Nava is a world-renowned contemporary American realist artist.  Inspired by the sacred and the Old Masters, his award-winning tapestries of "The Communion of the Saints" are prominently featured in the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Los Angeles, the largest Cathedral in the United States. 

Nava's technical sophistication and reverence for his saintly subjects create works of heroism which delight and intrigue the viewer.  His work strives to convey the complexity of human  life, yet, is free of judgment.  The saints are portrayed in their full humanity; they seem to live and breathe.  They are not lofty and above us; they are vibrant, alive and with us.  Also in the work is something intriguing--unknown saints, unidentified children and adults of all races and ethnicities--the unacknowledged saints of everyday life.
